Former Tory cabinet minister will help steer Big Four firm on privatisation deals
Sir Malcolm Rifkind, the former Conservative foreign secretary, has been appointed as an adviser to PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He will join PwC’s corporate advisory board, giving advice on the development of public private partnership programmes across Europe and on privatisation plans. The former MP, who was both defence secretary and transport secretary, will also advise on transactions in the defence and transport markets in the UK and abroad.
The Big Four firm says Rifkind will work closely with Charles Lloyd, who leads the UK infrastructure, government and utilities team at PwC corporate finance.
Lloyd said: ‘Sir Malcolm’s breadth of experience will help us further develop our understanding of the strategic policy, financing and corporate issues our government and private sector clients face.’
Rifkind first entered parliament in 1974 and was a Scottish MP until he lost his Edinburgh seat in 1997.
He is also an outspoken opponent of the UK joining the euro.
