How should I search for an answer?
You can use either the basic ‘Search’ or via the ‘Advanced Search’
The ‘Advanced Search’ enables you to search via Product (CCH recommended) which ensures that the search results only contain answers relevant to that particular software.
Choose a Category if you know which one - You may also get better search results if you choose a Category as well. The categories are:
All Categories
FAQs - step-by-step instructions on how to perform key software tasks, how to deal with any error messages that arise, and any other frequently asked questions
Known issues - a description of any critical known issues affecting your software, with workarounds or link to the relevant update where available.
Environment - any software issues relating to the operating system or other programs running on your machine.
Documentation - PDFs of all product documentation, including Release Notes and Installation Guides.
Add ‘Search terms’ if you have a specific query - If you need an answer to a specific question, use the ‘Search terms’ field. For the best results, type in two or three words.e.g. Don't type "How do I do a global roll forward in PerTAX?"
Do type "global roll forward" (and select PerTAX Family from the Product dropdown)
How do I sort the search results?
When you click Search, the KnowledgeBase suggests a list of possible answers. Answers that best match your search terms and which have been most useful to other users appear at the top.The total number of results found for that particular search are shown on the right above the list of answers found.
After the answer list displays, you can click any one of the headings to sort a column in ascending order. To revert to descending order, click on the same heading again..
To go to the next page of search results, click on the page numbers shown in the bottom-left of the screen or choose ‘Next >’.
How do I list all of the answers for a particular product?
To list all answers for a particular product, using the ‘Advanced Search’, select a product from the ‘Limit by product’ dropdown and click Search. (Leave the ‘Limit by category’ on the default value of ‘Select a category’.)
How do I list the most recent answers?
To check for new answers, using the ‘Advanced Search’, choose 'Answer ID' from the 'Sort by' dropdown, then click Search. Answers added most recently (i.e. with the highest ID number) appear at the top of the list.
You can also check for answers that have been updated recently: choose 'Updated' from the 'Sort by' dropdown, then click Search.
How do I search for an answer by its ID number?
CCH may refer you to an answer by giving you an ID number (e.g. 76). To find the answer:
1. Type the ID number into the 'Search text' field.
2. Click Search.
The list of search results should only return one answer - click on the Summary link to view the details.
What if I can't find what I'm looking for?
1. Check you have selected the correct product and sub-product from the ‘Limit by product’ dropdown menu.
2. Check you have selected the correct category - or left it as the default value of 'Select by category' if you're not sure which one.
3. Check you have deleted any search text you typed in for an earlier search.
4. Ensure that you ‘Remove’ any ‘Search filters’ that were applied by an earlier search by clicking on the remove filters icon.

5. Try typing fewer words into the ‘Search’ text field to widen your search.
6. Try searching with the suggestions displayed by ‘Other Suggested Searches’

7. If you still can't find an answer, log a call online with CCH Software Support stating that you would like this information to be added to the KnowledgeBase.
What does 'New' or 'Updated' mean next to an Answer Summary?
When CCH adds an answer to the KnowledgeBase, the word 'New' appears in red next to the answer summary for 7 days.
When CCH updates an existing answer in the KnowledgeBase, the word 'Updated' appears in red next to the answer summary for 7 days.
